Schedule:30-March-2012

Assuming that you people having some basic understanding of microcontrollers, we are going to get our hands dirty. We'll discuss the basics of Timer, Interrupts and how to exploit them in 8051. Probably we'll move onto a more versatile microcontrollers like Atmega8 series controllers. But this session will give you some insight into uC-Arch. If possible we'll arrange microcontroller kit from our lab, so that we could have hand on experience with uC's.

    Pre-Requisites:

Introduction to Uyiriliy

Uyiriliy is the blog that is representing Marakriti, the robotics club of Pondicherry enginerring college. It is to enlighten the interested, inspire the uninterested to excel in the field of robotics and to gain knowledge, confidence and experience. The field of robotics isn’t a single domain where one gains a specialized knowledge or intelligence about specific thing, instead it is a domain where everyone gets specialized in every aspects like mechanical, electronics, software.

Basics:
The very basic components of electronics are resistor, capacitor and inductor. For now lets see about resistor and capacitor

Resistor:
Resistor, the name itself conveys that it resists something let us see what that something is and what this resistor does to it.
You will get the information about the resistor’s parallel and series connection from the above diagram. In a circuit resistance only decides the amount of current current flow in that circuit.
V=IR. To understand: Assume V=5v and R=5 ohms then I=1A
                    If V=5v and R=1 ohms then I=5A
As the resistance in the circuit increases the current in the circuit decreases.
Note:
*Large amount of current flow will spoil the circuit so the circuit should not have low resistor values
*If battery source is used large amount of current extraction will drain the battery soon. Will u accept charging your mobile battery for each ten mins. So reducing current increases battery life.

Capacitor:
Capacitor is a charge storing device. There are two types of capacitor
1. Ceramic capacitor- non polarised
2. Electrolytic capacitor- polarised
And the required details regarding the capacitors are given in the diagram below .

Transistor:
Transistor is a semiconductor device. It is used as switch and amplifier. There are generally tw types of transistor they are
Bipolar transistor
a. PNP transistor
b. NPN transistor
Field effect transistor
a.JFET
b. MOSFET
etc
Now let us stick on to NPN transistor.  Those operations of the transistors are explained in the diagram below

Concentrate on the switch part of transistor as a new bee to comb. Lets see further of its use in following posts

Comparator:
Comparator is a device used to used compare two given values and change its output based on that. The comparator structure we are going to see is using opamp. What is opamp?. It is an active device used for many operations like amplify, compare, buffering etc. Let us restrict ourselves to comparator part .

Working of comparator

These are certain very basic ideas or understanding of these basic components are very essential to start with before getting your hand wet with voltages and current using these in bread boards

Almost over

Building blog, Facebook Page, Commenting system everything is done. Now you can disqus on stuffs here in itself...
